Troop D is located on Kearney Street in Springfield just West of US-65. Troop D is the largest troop in geographical area. Organized in 1931, its headquarters was first located in Joplin, but in 1933, was moved to Springfield. Troop D serves 18 counties in Southwestern Missouri. There are currently 133 uniformed officers, 71 uniformed civilians, and 13 civilian employees assigned to Troop D. Troop D has a Service Center located in Carthage to serve the western counties of the troop area. The Service Center is located on the east side of I-49 at the Cedar Road exit. The Cedar Road exit is about 1/2 mile north of I-44 on I-49 and approximately 3 miles south of Carthage.
The following counties are served by Troop D: Barry, Barton, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, St. Clair, Stone, Taney, Vernon, and Webster.
